George Mathews

George Washington "UNCK" Mathews, a lifelong resident of Lookout Mountain, born February 22, 1932 passed away Saturday, March 31, 2012. He retired from Chattanooga Glass Company with 34 years' service and was of the Baptist faith.He was preceded in death by his parents, John C. and Ethel Mathews; brothers, Felix Mathews, Phillip Mathews and Troy Mathews and sisters, Ione Miller and Clarice Hawkins.Survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Marcie Mathews; sister, Joyce and Jerry Smith; brothers, Ralph and Ruth Mathews and Herbert and Rachel Mathews; several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. EDT Monday, April 2, at Ascalon Baptist Church with Reverend David Smith and Reverend Ronald Blevins officiating.
