Joann Miller

RINGGOLD Joann Davenport Miller, 82, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 30, 2012 at her home.She was a member of only three churches in her life, Ozion Baptist, Blue Ridge, Ga., Westside Baptist and a charter member of Anchor of Hope Baptist Church. She was a former florist and former bus driver for the Catoosa County School System. She loved the Lord, teaching Sunday School, and singing with her beautiful alto voice. She also enjoyed fishing, gardening, helping people, her summer home in Crossville, Tenn., spending winters with her husband in Florida in their camper and she was a terrific cook.She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Zenobia Ledford Davenport, brother, Reed H. Davenport, sisters, Imogene Dover, Helen Davenport and Lois Davenport and great-granddaughter, Olivia Ashleigh Johnson.Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Homer Miller; daughters, Linda (David) Whitaker, and Barbara (Randall) Johnson, all of Ringgold; three grandchildren, David Whitaker, Jr., Joey Whitaker and Rodney (Rebecca) Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Brenna Whitaker, Corbin Johnson and Gavin Johnson; two sisters, Willie Ambercrombie and Patsy Beaver, both of Blue Ridge, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.comFuneral services will be held on Monday, April 2, at 2 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Bro. Brian Haney and Bro. Dan Mouw officiating.Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 3, at 2 p.m. at the Ozion Baptist Church Cemetery in Blue Ridge, Ga.The family will receive friends today from 12-8 p.m. and Monday from 10 until funeral time at the funeral home.
