Grover Brown

WHITWELL Grover Brown, 88, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, William & Ida Brown; infant son, Roger Brown; grandsons, Gregg Cates, Toby Brown; brothers, H.L. Brown, Snooks Brown; sisters, Alice Sowell, Margaret Grayson, Catherine Maphesos, Edna Mae Ryan. Mr. Brown was a United States Army Veteran serving during World War II. He was a member of the Whitwell Church of God and retired from Signal Mountain. Portland Cement Company after 41 years.Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 71 years, Odell Higdon Brown; six children, Jeannie (Jim) Morrison, of Jackson, Ga., Linda (Glenn) Ballard, Pat "Tuffy" (Arthur) Cates, Kenneth (Marilu) Brown, Susie Brown, Brady (Connie) Brown all, of Whitwell; sister, Alma Mosley, of South Pittsburg; brothers, Joe Brown, of Green Mountain, N.C., Grady Brown, of Signal Mountain; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.Family will receive friends 4-9 p.m., today, April 30, and Tuesday May 1, Noon - 2 p.m.Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, at the Whitwell Church of God with Bishop Clayton Privett, Rev. Michael Shrum, Rev. Roger Morrison officiating. Interment at Teague Cemetery. Arrangements are by Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home 423-658-7777.
