ROSSVILLE James "Jim" L. Shannon, 76, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012. Jim has been a resident of Rossville since 1973 and was of the Christian faith. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 17 years. and was in the printing business for 36 years before retiring. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Philmore and Frieda Shannon.He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Shelvy Shannon; son, Phil (Amanda) Shannon; niece, Becky; and nephew, Allan. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel, with Minister Shane Robinson officiating.Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will begin receiving friends after 3 p.m. Monday and prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Arrangements by W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Homes, Fort Oglethorpe.
