Catherine Pope, 65, departed this life Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, after a lengthy illness.She was born April 25, 1947 in Chattanooga.She was preceded in death by her mother, Lizzie Carter; father, Alex Carter; and sister, Dwartha Carter.She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Willie C. Pope; three sons, Stanley (Leatri), Fedel (Tonya) Cox and Willie (Itia) Cox; one daughter, Valerie (Kenneth) Wilkins; brother, Johnny Carter; sisters, Mary Calhoun and Edna Griffith; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends; two special grandchildren, Paige and Wayne. Special thanks to Terare Allen.Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, Aug. 15, 2012 in the chapel with the Rev. Jimmie Ingram officiating. Interment in Forest Hills Cemetery.The body will lie in state after noon today and the family will receive friends from 67 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
