Billy Day

RINGGOLD Billy Harold "Daddy Bill" Day, beloved husband and father, went to be with Jesus, Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, at Memorial Hospital, Chattanooga at the age of 75.Billy attended Gordon Lee High School and was involved in many athletic sports in which he excelled. He worked for Norfolk Southern for 38 1/2 years. He worked as a volunteer fireman for the city of Fort Oglethorpe and for a few years drove a school bus.He was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church, East Ridge.Billy was preceded in death by his parents, William Joseph and Clara Houston Day.Survivors are his wife, Donna Daffron Day; daughters, Tammy (Carroll) Waddle, Fort Oglethorpe, Debby (Bill) Fincher, Anniston, Ala., Amy (David) Gilbert, Ringgold, Vicky (Doug) Manley, Ringgold, Ga.; stepdaughter, Teresa (Scott) Wade, Chattanooga; stepson, Ken (Aisyah) Pierce, Vancouver, B.C.; sisters, Hazel Brock, Chickamauga, Ga., Jean (Rev. Billy) Jennings, Mentone, Ala.; former wife, Donna Marie Day, Ringgold; grandchildren, Dayley Gunnells, Matthew Waddle, Benjamin (Tabitha) Waddle, Meghan (William) Jones, Gavin Gilbert, Alya Gilbert, Mackenzie Manley, Micah Manley, Josh Pierce, AnDrue (Amber) Potts and Hannah Pierce; great-grandchildren, Ireland Waddle, Gracie Waddle, Sadie Waddle, River Waddle, Gauge Waddle and Elizabeth Potts; many adoring nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces; also our neighbors that became part of our family, Darrell and Kim Meadors and their children.Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at Spring Creek Road Baptist Church with Pastor James Julian and Pastor John Ledford officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of Spring Creek Road Baptist Church or The Soul Hospital Church, Ooltewah.We would like to express gratitude and appreciation to Memorial Hospital for their outstanding care and treatment of their patients and families, Dr. Richard Morrison, Dr. Claude Galphin, Dr. Richard Pesce and their associates, as well as the amazing and dedicated nursing staff in CVIC.The family will receive friends from 2 until 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Spring Creek Road Baptist Church.Visit www.heritagefh.com to share words of comfort to the family.Arrangements are by Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Road.
