Louise Fleming

ROSSVILLE Mary Louise Fleming, 87, left her earthly life and entered heavens gates to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Aug. 20, 2012.After having blessed countless people with her amazing piano talent for more than 80 years, her family and friends believe she is accompanying God's choir of angels. Her special gift of music was discovered at the age of three when her blind uncle sat her on his knee and she started picking out tunes on a pump organ. From the age of 12, she played the piano in churches wherever her father, Rev. Charlie Dunn, preached. At the same age, she began teaching piano and inspired hundreds of young students across the region over her lifetime.Louise served as pianist at the First Baptist Church of Rossville for 19 years and at Lakeview First Baptist for 31 years, where she played until the week before her death. She also served as pianist and organist at funeral homes owned by the Lane family for over 50 years and was organist emeritus at Heritage Funeral Home at the time of her death. BPW named her the Woman of the Year.The exceptional legacy of music that Louise left will live on in the lives she touched not only at churches and funeral homes, but also at weddings and other special events. She was dearly loved and admired not only for her remarkable talent but also for her devotion to family and close friends.Louise was active with the Rossville Exchange Club and BPW of Rossville, where she was named Woman of the Year.She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Fleming; sister, Marie Jones; brother, James Dunn; parents, Rev. Charlie and Lula Dunn; and is survived by three sons, Ronald (Flavia) Fleming, Larry (Debbie) Fleming and Darrell Fleming; brother, Rev. Raymond Dunn; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.A celebration of her home-going will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at Lakeview First Baptist Church with Rev. Max Parris and Rev. Patrick Cooper officiating.
