Stanley Davis

Stan Byron Davis, PH.D died Aug. 25, 2012 at his home in Hixson.He was born in Anniston, Ala., on Aug. 2, 1964. During his 48 years on this earth, he lived every day to the fullest and enjoyed fellowship and community with thousands of friends he met along the way.Preceded in death by his beloved Dad, Bobby S. Davis Sr.Stan is survived by his cherished wife of 23 years, Doreen P. Davis; daughters Shearl and Emily; son Thomas; mother Wynelle S. Davis, Gardendale, Ala.; sister, Daun (Don) Aaron, Gardendale, Ala.; brother, Rev. Bobby S. (Meleah) Davis Jr., Cleveland, Ala.; mother-in-law, Bernice Pearson, Asheville, N.C.; nieces, Cate Ann Davis, Michella Minyard, Abigail Aaron; and nephews Caleb Davis; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, respected mentors, co-workers, and friends throughout the academic field and the Church of the Nazarene world-wide.He graduated from Oneonta High School, Oneonta, Ala., in 1982 and began a life-long career of education and instruction. Stan attained numerous degrees and certifications that included a BS in accounting and math from Trevecca Nazarene University, Nashville, Tenn.; MBA and Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; Certified Public Accountant (CPA) from the state of Tennessee and Certified Management Accountant (CMA). As a caring educator, he won numerous teaching awards throughout his career. Although his degrees were from the University of Alabama, he was a lifelong fan of the Auburn Tigers, a passion he shared with his Dad.As a husband, dad, son, brother, cousin, uncle and a friend to everyone he met, Stan fulfilled that calling like no other ever has or ever will. He was never too busy for his family and friends. A true joy to be around, Stan exuded a quiet but powerful influence of love and respect to everyone.Stan was as a faithful member of the Church of the Nazarene and Gideons International. Over the years he participated in many areas of service and ministry. He exemplified a life of servant hood as Christs hands and feet on this earth and his influence will continue for years to come as a result of sharing his love for Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior. Stan was an avid runner and an active member of Team in Training as a coach and participant.Stans vocational journey included employment with the state of Tennessee, Dow Chemical Co. (Baton Rouge, La.), Mead Paper (Kingsport, Tenn.), Eastman Chemical Company (Kingsport, Tenn.), Wake Forest University (Winston-Salem, N.C.), and The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga since 2006. He was also a Principal Partner with PerformanceDelta, LLC.A celebration of Stans life will be held at Grace Church of the Nazarene, 6310 Dayton Boulevard, Hixson, TN 37343 (www.chattanoogagrace.com) at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2012. Officiates are the Rev. Micah Sturm, Rev. Bobby Davis Jr., and Rev.
