Charlie Powell

Charles "Charlie" Bernard Powell, 83, of Ooltewah, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012.He was the son of the late Charles and Katherine Powell and was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Jo Ann Powell; daughter, Staci Powell; and sister, Dorothy Fleming.Charlie was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy.He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Alhambra Shrine and Crossroads Baptist Church.A third generation meat processor, he was the owner and operator of Charlie Powell Meats in Chattanooga. Charlie was a philanthropist who was always giving to his community and those in need. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.Survivors include his two sons, Chuck Powell, Ooltewah and Jack (Louise) Powell, South Pittsburg, Tenn.; three grandsons, Jay, Adam, Dan; and a nephew, Rick Brumlow, Atlanta.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. John Montgomery, the Rev.
