Linnie Smithers

Linnie Mae Carter Smithers, 93, of Chattanooga, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012.For the past eight years she had resided at National Health Care in Fort Oglethorpe. Prior to that, she had been a resident of East Ridge where she touched the lives of countless children while working at the East Ridge Presbyterian Day Care. She was a member of East Ridge Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin E. Smithers Sr.; her parents, Eva Mae Rogers Carter and Walter Nathan Carter; two sisters, Annie Belle Siders and Molly Johnson.Survivors include her sons, Alvin E (Konnie) Smithers II, Samuel L. Smithers, Robert E. (Linda) Smithers and Chris (Cheryl) Herron; grandchildren, Karen E. Wolfe, G. Adam Smithers, Nathan H.W. Smithers, Rob Smithers and Jonathan Smithers; great-grandchildren, Doug, Noah, Abby, Lawson and Cade; sister, Gladys Foster; brother, Nick Carter.Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday in the South Crest Chapel with Rev.
