Margaret Popp

Margaret Popp, 88, of Hixson, passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2012.She was born Dec.21, 1923, in Slaton, Texas, and raised in Roswell, N.M.She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Hattie Carter; brothers, Tom and David Carter; sister, Betty Lipsky.She graduated from Texas Womens University. Mrs. Popp was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for many years; currently she is a member of Alpine Baptist Church. She worked for the Girl Scouts in Boston, Mass. and retired from teaching at Hixson Junior High School. Mrs. Popp loved the outdoors and teaching.Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Walter F. Popp; children, Robin Popp, Tom (Starr) Popp and Eric (Joy) Popp; grandchildren, Anakela Popp, Jared Popp, Nathan Popp, Maile Popp, Colton Popp, Haley Popp, Bryson Popp and Selena Popp.Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Fowler officiating.
