Rachel Morgan

DAYTON Rachel Joanne Ross Morgan, 78, died Sunday morning, Feb. 26, 2012, at her home.Rachel was born in Frankfort, Kan., on July 21, 1933 the daughter of the late Rev. Archie and Dora Schmidt Ross and was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Morgan.Rachel earned her B.S. at Bob Jones University and her M.A. from Northwestern University. She was a professor of speech and drama at Miami (Ohio) University and then Bryan College in Dayton.Rachel had been a resident of Dayton since 1972 where she was a member of Dayton First United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Gideons Auxiliary and the Southern Speech Communication Association.She is survived by her daughter, Libby (Charles) Lewis, of Richmond, Va.; son, Ken Morgan, of Knoxville; three grandchildren; her sister, Muriel Humphrey, of Pella, Iowa; her brother, Kenneth Ross of Cleveland; and several beloved nieces and nephews.Funeral services for Rachel will be held at 4 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with her pastor, Rev.
