Sara Greene

Sara E. Greene, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, Feb. 27, 2012.She was born in Calhoun, Ga., daughter of Alvin G. and Harriet Addie Clark Allen. She was educated in the Calhoun Schools, and later married Ray Greene. Both Sara and Ray worked at Oak Ridge, Tenn., during the development of the atomic bomb. She was retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority where she had worked as a Procurement Analyst in the Purchasing Division for many years.She was a member of East Ridge Baptist Church and Sunday School for over 40 years. She was active in volunteering at Memorial Hospital and other organizations. Her favorite hobby was playing bridge.Survivors include a brother, Warren G. Allen and his wife Jane, of Spofford, N.H.; two nieces, Ginger A. Rollins, of Zebulon, Ga., and Catherine C. Vincent, of Newcastle, N.Y.; two nephews, Thomas W. Allen, of Claremont, N.H. and Walter J. Allen, of Lexington, Mass.; a special great-niece, Sheila Johnson and her husband, Chuck of Hixson; and several other great-nieces and great-nephews.She was predeceased by her husband, Ray; a brother, Harry A. Allen; a nephew, Gary Allen.Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 5, at Gordon Memorial Gardens, Calhoun, Ga.There will not be any visitation.Please share your condolences at www.chattanoogaeastchapel.com.Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 404 S.
