Syble Smith

Syble Tolleson Smith, 85, of Chattanooga went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012.She was born Oct. 12, 1926 in Henry County, Ga., to the late Alvin and Effie Mae Tolleson.Mrs. Smith was retired from the Chattanooga City Board of Education after 25 years of service and was a 50-year member of Red Bank Church of Christ.Her husband, David Mitchell Smith Sr. and several brothers and sisters, preceded her in death.Survivors include children, Linda (Ted) Phillips, David (Jill) Smith Jr., Carol (Mike) Hutcherson and Sandy (Randy) Hutcherson; grandchildren, David Smith, III, Jeffrey (Brenda) Phillips, Bobby (Julie) Hutcherson, Ryan (Bethany) Hutcherson, Dustin (Sarah) Smith, Anna and Emily Hutcherson; great-grandchildren, Amber Phillips, Reece, Rod, Ripley, Chloe, Elle and Van Hutcherson and Anna Blaire Barton; sisters, Betty Britt, Geraldine Huey and Ann (Ernest) Bradshaw; brother Earl (Carol) Tolleson; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the North Chapel with Minister Steve Lusk officiating.Burial will follow at Chattanooga Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today and Saturday from 1-2:30 p.m. at the North Chapel.Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, P.O.
