Jerry Dixon

Jerry Edward Dixon, 65, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2012.He was born in Chattanooga, on Nov. 17, 1946 to the late Willie and Pearlie Mae Clay Dixon. He worked for Combustion Engineer and was employed for 30 years at Bears Barber Shop. He graduated from Howard High School in 1966.He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Pearlie Mae Clay Dixon; grandparents, George and Pearl Clay and Claude and Willie Mae Dixon; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Merritt.He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Marilyn Milligan Dixon; two sons, Vincent (Serta) Dixon, Brillard Dixon, Chattanooga; four stepchildren, James and Juan Milligan, Tracy Milligan, Sonya (Edward) Singer, all of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Gloria Beverly, Linda Dixon; one brother, Gregory Dixon, Chattanooga; three aunts, three uncles; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends; longtime friends, Herman Prater, Monroe Beard and Larry High.Funeral will be held at noon Thursday, July 19, 2012, at John P. Franklin Funeral Home with Minister Vincent Dixon, officiating and Minister Larry High, eulogist.Interment in Forest Hill.The body will lie in state after noon today with the family receiving friends from 7 8 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
