Vera Coulter

KENSINGTON Vera Cannon Coulter, 91, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012.She was born in Whitfield County on Dec. 19, 1920, to late James W. and Lucy Reed Connon. She was the widow of J.W. "Jay" Coulter Jr.Mrs. Coulter was a retired Walker County teacher and author of "Echoes of McLemore Cove". She was a former Girl Scout Troop Leader, 4-H Volunteer, Sunday school teacher. Member of Cassandra Baptist Church, William Marsh Chapter DAR, Walker County Historical Society, McLemore Cove Preservation Society.Mrs. Coulter is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Coulter Shaw and Charles N. Shaw; two grandsons and wives, John Coulter, "Cole" Shaw and Julie Howard Shaw, Mark Daniel Shaw and Kelli Kersey Shaw; and great-grandchildren, Jacob Coulter Shaw, Isaac Daniel Shaw and Joanna Camille Shaw.A memorial service will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012, at Kensington United Methodist Church, 14 Newt Johnson Road, Chickamauga, GA 30707. A visitation time will precede the memorial service, beginning at 1:30 p.m.In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Coulter Memorial Cemetery and mail attention: Kelli Shaw, 190 West Cove Road, Chickamauga, GA 30707.The arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette.
