William Manning

Sr.William W. "Bill" Manning Sr. 90, of East Ridge, died Monday, July 23, 2012, at his home.He was born Feb. 21, 1922, in Chattanooga to the late Robert P. and Mona Manning. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Annette Manning; brothers, Robert Manning and Jack Manning; sisters, Peggy Vincent and Frances Doub.Mr. Manning was a longtime member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in World War II.He was a legendary paper carrier for the Chattanooga Times Free Press retiring after 50 years and over 4 million papers delivered. He also retired from Combustion Engineering after 35 years of service.Survivors include his children Anne (Rob) Cosgrove, William W. "Bill" Manning Jr., Rosemary (Daryl) Moffitt, Margaret Manning and Melanie (Dave) Burgmeier; grandchildren, Robert Cosgrove, Caroline Cosgrove, John Burgmeier, Katy Burgmeier, and Kevin Burgmeier; sister, Mona A. Manning, of Oak Ridge; and several nieces and nephews.Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m. Friday July 27, 2012, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Jim Vick and Father Mike Creson officiating.Interment will follow in the Mt.
