FORT OGLETHORPE David Luther Davenport, 52, died Friday, July 27, 2012, in a local hospital.He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga, North Georgia area and of the Baptist faith. David co-owned/operated T.H.E. Road Service with wife, Daisy, for 25 years. For the last seven years he worked for the city of Fort Oglethorpe. David enjoyed fishing, playing banjo, bluegrass music, family, racing and shooting at the range in his free time.He was preceded in death by parents, Katherine Jewell Davenport and Donald Davenport.Survivors are wife of 30 years, Daisy Davenport; son, Wes Howard and Beth Lyles, of Fort Oglethorpe, Michael Howard, of Rossville; daughter, Angela and Ricky McDaniel, of Fort Oglethorpe; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Steve Brannon officiating.Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.Visit www.heritagefh.com to share words of comfort with the family and view the memorial tribute.The family will receive friends 2-8 p.m. Sunday and 2-8 p.m. Monday at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
