Susie Owens

Susie Careathers Owens, 82, of Chattanooga, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 22, 2012, in a local hospital.She was a graduate of Howard High School. She was employed by S&W Cafeteria for many years. She then became the owner of William Sandries Grocery Store.She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Robbie Careathers; sister, Hilda Johnson; brother, Wilbur Careathers; and husband, Noble Owens.Survivors include a loving and devoted sister-in-law, Annie Careathers, of Chattanooga; stepdaughter, Dorothy Myers; aunt, Doris Traylor, of River Rouge, Mich.; niece, Carrell (Donnie) Careathers, of Chattanooga; nephews, Roderick (Murieum) Careathers, of Sacramento, Calif., Willard Careathers and Clinton Johnson, both of Chattanooga; a host of other relatives and friends.The body will lie-in-state after 12:30 p.m. today at Taylor Funeral Home.Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the chapel with Pastor Timothy Careathers as the eulogist.Burial: at 10:30 a.m. Monday at in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
