Daisy Freeman

Daisy Lee Freeman departed this life on Sunday, June 24, 2012, after a lengthy illness.She was born June 27, 1939, in Chattanooga to Robert and Mamie Freeman. She was the youngest of six children.Preceding her in death were her parents; grandson, Andre Lebron Jones; eldest brother, Roosevelt Kilpatrick, brothers-in-law, Oliver Smith Sr. and Joe William Hubbard.She attended Chattanooga public schools and graduated from Howard High School in the Class of 1960.Sister Freeman united with Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Harold K. Lester, and raised her three children up in the church. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Children in the Southside community often referred to her as "the frozen lady" who served them the delicious icy treat.She leaves to cherish loving memories: beloved husband, Waymon Oliver, of Chattanooga; devoted son, Cornel Freeman; and daughters, Darlene (Gerald) Cummings and Felicia (Bobby) Rivers, all of Chattanooga; eight grandchildren, Cornelius (Latesha) Jones, Kellie Jones, Tameka (Kenneth Jr.) Martin, Lakeshia Caldwell, Eric Penn, Jr, Keosha Walton, LaTonya Hughes and Cameran Rivers, all of Chattanooga; eight great-grandchildren; godchildren, Charlene and Kendra Boykins, Shannon Barnes and Kerry Clemons; two brothers, John (Peggy) Kilpatrick and Ralph (Dorothy) Freeman; two sisters, Louise Smith and Helen Hubbard; stepsister, LaKeisha (Timothy) Scotton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives; dear friends, Maggie Stone and Latasor Green, the Rev. and Mrs. Harold K. Lester, Benita Lester Spicer, Sue Russell, Willie Caldwell Jr. and Letitia Jones.Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, June 29, 2012, at Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Harold K. Lester, officiating.Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery.The body will lie in state after noon today at John P. Franklin Funeral, 1101 Dodds Ave,, 622-9995.
