Johnny Parson

COALMONT Mr. Johnny Parson, 85, passed away peacefully Thursday June 28, 2012, at the Sheltering Arms Home in Palmer surrounded by his family.He was a US Army veteran of WWII, retired Coal Miner, attended the Methodist Church and had been employed by Grundy County at the Coalmont Convenience Center. He was born on Sept. 12, 1926 to Thomas and Lula Patrick Parson who preceded him in death along with his sons, Gaylon L. Parson and Rodger K. Parson; daughter, JaNora L. Dixon; sisters, Willie Hobbs, Mae Thompson, Pauline Melton and Mary Sue Parson; brothers, James, Franklin, Tommy and Lee Andrew Parson.He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bessie Bennett Parson; daughter, Shirley Ann Parson, Tracy City; sons, Dean (Carol) Parson, Coalmont and Scott (Natalie) Parson, Monteagle; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Claude (Ophelia) Parson, Altamont; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Brother Joe Nunley officiating with burial to follow in Bonnie Oaks Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard.
