FREDONIACOMMUNITY Charles Vernon Smith, completed his walk thru this life on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 with his loving family by his side. This journey took 67 years. He was a Christian and member of Flat Mountain Baptist Church.He was preceded in death by his father, Lenzy Turner Smith; brothers, James Alvin Johnson and Jerry Randle Johnson; and grandparents, Jack and Lucy Dye.Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Betty Faye Harvey Smith; devoted children, Christopher Paxton (Lori) Smith, Dyer, Tenn., and Charlyn Veronica (Rob) Austin, Dunlap; grandchildren, Abigail Myers, Mason Austin, Paxton Smith, Christianna Smith, Isaiah Christopher Smith and Chelsey Marie Austin; his precious mother, Loretta Dye Thomas, Dunlap; brother, David Allen Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. CST Saturday, March 24, 2012, in the Ewton Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tony Cates officiating.Burial will follow in Camp Cemetery.Visitation 4-8 p.m. CDT today.
