Bobby Peoples

Rev. Bobby Peoples, 79, of Chattanooga went to Glory on Friday, May 11, 2012. Rev. Peoples was born and raised in Enterprise, Ala. He moved to Chattanooga in 1963 to serve as a Southern Baptist Minister and Evangelist. He was a member of the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, hosted his own syndicated radio program that was heard across the country on 500 radio stations and played his music for the Queen of England, three US Presidents and with Bob Hope in the USO. He was also a Sertoma Club Freedom Award recipient and served as the Chaplain at Harrison Lodge 114 F&AM.He was preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Eerie Peoples; brother, Douglas Peoples; and sister, Lena Griswald.Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Tresia Peoples; daughter, Renee (Ray) Brown; grandson, Raymond (Cindy) Brown, of Henagar, Ala.; granddaughter, Christina Brown, of Chattanooga; and great-grandson, Alex Brown; brother, Carl (Rosemary) Peoples, of Vienna, VA. and Jim Peoples of Lakeland, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.Funeral Services will be held 11:30 a.m. today, May 14, at the funeral home with Rev. James Hutchings and Rev. John Butler officiating.Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga.Arrangements are by Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory and Florist, North Chapel, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN 37434.
