Wallace Beard

James Wallace Beard, 87, of Hixson, passed away on Friday, May 11, 2012.Wallace was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and was a graduate of the 1943 class of Central High School where he played football. He served our country during World War II in the U. S. Army, during the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Purple Heart. Wallace returned to Chattanooga and married his late wife Colleen in 1948 and graduated from UC in 1950. He was one of the founders of the Chattanooga Swim League. Wallace retired from Woodbridge Foam Fabricating and was a member of Hixson First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. I. W. Beard. Wallace is survived by his three daughters, Debbie Beard Concannon, Lisa Burns and Wendy Beard Boran; two grandchildren, Erin (Brandon) Bolinger and Eric Burns; a great granddaughter, Jasmine Burns; brother-in-law, Tom Bond and his son Gary Bond and his family. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. today and 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the North Chapel.Services for Wallace will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the North Chapel. Burial will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Military Honors.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Bible Village, 3001 Hamill Road, P. O.
