DeWayne SmithDeWayne Smith, of Chattanooga passed at his residence, Friday, May 25, 2012.He was the youngest of three sons born to Johnnie and Gladys Russell Smith.He grew up in the Southside on Williams Street. He was a graduate of Howard High School in 1970 and earned a certificate in auto mechanic from Chattanooga Technical Community College in the early 1970s.He worked as a Welder at Wheland Foundry. He also was a professional barrell grille maker. He was known in the community as the "Barrell Grille" maker. He enjoyed making bar-b-que barrels. He also enjoyed walking, hunting and fishing.He is survived by his mother, Gladys Russell Smith; daughter, Shuntale Smith- Fairbanks; father, Johnnie Smith; two brothers, Fredrick (Carolyn) and Anthony (Jacqueline) Smith, all of Chattanooga; grandchild, Julian Ellis; and cousin, Ambrosia (Junebug) Palmer of Chattanooga.Memorial services will be at noon Friday, June 1, 2012 in thechapel with Rev. Larry High officiating.Arrangements entrusted to Advantage Funeral and Crematim Service Franklin-Strickland-Bryan-Smith Funeral Directors.
