William Rogers

William Elbert Rogers, 77, of Ooltewah, passed away Monday, Oct. 15, 2012 at his residence with his family at his side.He was a truck driver for 30 years. He also worked in construction throughout his life and was a member of the Carpenters Union Local No 74 and a member of Bayside Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Bernard Rogers and Nettie Mae Short Rogers; daughter, Terri Lynn Rogers; brother, John M. Rogers; son-in-law, Jim Davis; nieces, Cynthia Rogers and Connie Rogers Brewer; and nephew Barry Dale Owens.He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Darlene Baker Rogers; son, Tony (Lee) Rogers; daughter, Rhonda Rogers Davis; grandson, Jason Rogers; brother, Benny (Lisa) Rogers; sisters, Peggy Miller and Judy (Kelly) Owens; canine companions, Maggie, Buffy and Buddy; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation was held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday Oct. 19, at Advantage Funeral Home, 1724 McCallie Ave, Chattanooga, TN. Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, in the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Grady Cooper officiating.Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens, Hixson, TN. Pallbearers are Kenneth McElhaney, Tim Owens, Michael Owens, Shorty Rogers, Phillip Roark, and Ken Boyd.
