William Kell

John William Kell died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, nine days before his 96th birthday.His family came to the Waldens Ridge area in the 1830s, where William was born, raised and lived. He was a lifelong and oldest member of Signal Mountain United Methodist Church. A World War II veteran, he worked at TAG Railway and retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after more than 30 years.Mr. Kell was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Clemons Kell; son, William Stanley Kell; and two sisters, Iva and Louise.Survivors include Willela (James) Douthat, Pat (Alan) Smith and Mrs. Stanley (Patty) Kell; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved and cherished.A special thanks goes to all his care givers.Please no flowers.Donations can be made to the Signal Mountain United Methodist Church Building Fund.Funeral services are 11 a.m. Friday with visitation following the service at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace.
