Burl Kell

RINGGOLD Burl Byron Kell, 73, departed this life Monday, Nov. 19, 2012.He was born in Chickamauga, Ga., to the late Lawrence Preston and Annie Lee Kell. Byron graduated from Jacksonville State University with his bachelors degree and Middle Tennessee State University with his masters degree, he later retired from Whitfield County Board of Education as an Administrator. He was a 50+ year member of the Masonic Lodge and member of Ringgold United Methodist Church.He was also preceded in death by his siblings, James Earl Kell, Harold Kell, Charles Kell and Vera Landers.Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Carolyn Kell; children, Jeff (Kitty) Kell, of Ringgold, Lawrence (Laura) Kell, of Buford, Ga.; sister, Cora Ann Parish, of Chickamauga; grandchildren, Preston and Landon Kell, Tony and Chad Rylee; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Friday in the chapel with Rev. John Purrington and Rev. Richard Clark officiating.Interment will follow in Anderson Cemetery.Family will receive friends from noon until 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ringgold United Methodist Church.Arrangements are by Wallis-Stewart Chapel of Wilson Funeral Homes, Ringgold.
