Faye Skipper

JASPER Billie Faye Skipper passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at 6 p.m. after a long illness with atrial fibrilation and multiple myeloma. She was 80 years old.She is survived by her husband, James Thomas Skipper, of Jasper; one daughter, Phyllis (Carl C.) Rose, of Nashville; one sister, Carolyn (LeGrand T.) Fournier, of Bogart, Ga.; niece Cathy Fournier, of Bogart; nephew, Steve (Mary) Fournier, of Athens, Ga.; great-niece, Emly Fournier; and two great-nephews, Stevie and Spencer Fournier, all of Athens, Ga. She was born on Sept. 20, 1932 in Cleveland, Tenn. She was the daughter of the late Claude T. and Martha Jane Shirley of Whitwell, Tenn. She graduated from the 1951 class of Whitwell High School.She retired from Provident (Unum) Insurance Co. She was a claims adjustor. During retirement she enjoyed volunteering at Grandview Hospital in Jasper, volunteering for the Election Commission, and socializing with the "Golden Friends." She enjoyed crafts, teaching Sunday School, making pecan pies and being with her family.She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. CST Friday, Nov. 23, in the Tate Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Steve Middleton officiating.Burial to follow in Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens in Jasper.Pallbearers are Carl Rose, Richard Newell, LeGrand Fournier, Steve Fournier, Spencer Fournier and Ed Parker.To send online condolences visit www.tatefh.com.Arrangements by Tate Funeral Home, Jasper, Tenn., 423-942-9500.
