Doris Matthews

Doris Marie Matthews, 81, Chattanooga, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, after a long battle with Parkinsons Disease.Formerly of Scottsboro, Ala. Doris was a retired teacher of 33 years in the Scottsboro and Jackson County School systems. She was a graduate of the Samford University, Birmingham, Ala.A member of Calvary Baptist Church, Scottsboro for more than 50 years, she became an active member of Red Bank Baptist Church in 2005.Miss Matthews was preceded in death by her parents, C.H. and Nell Proctor Matthews and brothers, Proctor and; James H. Matthews.She is survived by a sister, Rena (James H.) Anderson; a brother, Jerry (Carroll) Matthews; sisters-in-law, Lois (York) Matthews and Doris (Parker) Matthews; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.Family will receive friends rom 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at the Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel until the time of service.Funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jerry T.
