Georgia Caudle

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN Georgia Marie Okrina Caudle passed away on Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, surrounded by her family.Georgia Caudle was born on April 22, 1920, in Abie, Neb., the second child of Charles and Frances Okrina, both of Czechoslovakia. For 60 years, she was the loving wife of her husband, Ellis, who passed away in 2008. While raising four sons, she acquired a masters degree in nursing and had a career in nursing. She became interested in teaching and obtained a degree in education and taught elementary school for a number of years. Although she had many interests, travel and reading were her greatest passions. She traveled extensively visiting every continent except Antarctica, and was present in Tiananmen Square during the Chinese student revolt in 1989. She loved the people and landscapes of China. A few sentences cannot do her life or her character justice. She sought to learn something new every day. She took an interest in everyone around her, never took life for granted and always had a beautiful smile.Georgia Caudle is survived by her brother, Jerry Okrina, of David City, Neb.; four grateful sons, Ellis, Charles and Scott Caudle, of Johnson City, Tenn., and George Caudle, of Lookout Mountain, Ga.; three daughters-in-law, Susan Batchelor Caudle and Yi Zhang Caudle, of Johnson City, and Angela Usrey Caudle, of Lookout Mountain, Ga.; and two granddaughters, Georgia Lynn and Abigail Grace, of Johnson City, Tenn.Arrangements are with Vanderwall Funeral Home of Dayton, Tennessee.A private family graveside ceremony is scheduled for Oct. 6, 2012, at the Caudle Family plot in Buttram Cemetery in Dayton. The family requests that contributions be made in lieu of flowers to Hospice of Chattanooga or to the Johnson City, Tenn., Public Library.
