Edna Taylor

Edna Westbrooks Taylor, 89, of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, in a local health care facility.A native and lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Edna was a well-known citizen's activist and president of Citizens for Tax Payers Rights. She was also named one of the top ten local leaders by the leadership foundations and was a frequent caller to local talk radio shows and opinion writer in the Chattanooga Times Free-Press.Edna was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Jesse Gerald Taylor; parents, William H. and Lucy Garland Westbrooks; daughter, Elizabeth Susan Taylor; grandson, Steven Taylor; and sister, Jeanne Kettles.Survivors include her daughter, Doris "Dixie" Smith, Chattanooga; son, Jesse G. Taylor, Jr., Tacoma, WA; brother, William A. Westbrooks & James E. (Louise) Westbooks; sister, Dorothy "Dot" Osbourn; half-sisters, Willene Pearcey & Janey Gouger; half-brother, Chester Westbrooks; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the South Crest Chapel with Chaplain Luke Heibel officiating.Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hamilton County Humane Educational Society, 212 N.
