Charles Clevenger

, III Charles Robert Clevenger, III, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, walked into Heaven surrounded by his family on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012. He was 71 years old. Charlie was the son of the late Idella and Charles Clevenger, Jr. He was a native of Chattanooga, graduating Central High School in 1959. Charlie was the CEO of the Associated General Contractors for 30 years, served on the board of Blood Assurance for 25 years , served as the chairman of the Chattanooga Air Pollution Control Board and was on the board of the Chattanooga Enterprise Center. A community servant and businessman, Charlie never met a stranger. Charlie and his devoted wife of 50 years were members of Clear Creek Church of Christ and gave generously to the Lord's work around the world.He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Caroline O'Brien.Survivors include his wife, Judy Phillips Clevenger; son, Chuck Clevenger (Jody); daughter, Jill Clevenger Hartness(Jeb); grandchildren John, Julie and Charlie Clevenger, Grayson and Mary Hartness.Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Clear Creek Church of Christ. The entombment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
