Katherine Souther

Mrs. Katherine Barnard Souther, of Chattanooga, died on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012. Katherine was the widow of Ralph Souther who preceded her in death in 1980. Mrs. Souther is survived by her son, Gerald Jerome Souther; her grandson, Michael Souther; her daughter-in-law, Pam Souther, all of Chattanooga; her brother, Lamar Barnard, of Dalton, Ga.; her sister, Sybil Bryant, of Chattanooga; several nieces and nephews.Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Dewayne Souther, in 2008; her parents, Henry and Jimmie Lee Barnard; her sisters, Ruby Darnell and Juanita Bates.Mrs. Souther was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith. Loving and caring for her family were the most important things in her life. The family wishes to thank the family members and special friends who extended so much love and care to her during her illness: Sybil Bryant, Bob and Brenda Souther, Grace Wilson, Lamar and Paulette Barnard, Jewell Breeden, Mae and Charles Bearden, Gladys and Jim Wilson, and Jamie Agee; Hospice of Chattanooga also cared beautifully for Mrs. Souther and her family.The funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 East Brainerd Road. Graveside services will follow on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Deep Springs Baptist Church in Whitfield County, Ga. The family will receive friends today, from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
