Thelma Strickland

Thelma E. Thompson Strickland, 80, of Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, in a local hospital. She graduated from Howard High School and was a former member of Olivet Baptist Church. She was a veteran of the United States Air Force.Those preceding her in death include her husband of 52 years, Tilmon Strickland Sr.; parents, Lillie M. and Daniel L. Thompson. Survivors include daughters, Deborah Douglas, Lillie M. Lazenby and Cynthia Watkins, all of Chattanooga; son, Tilmon (Gail) Strickland Jr., of Apopka, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Mitchell, Julia Strickland and Juanita Strickland; brother-in-law, Milton Mitchell; a host of many more family and friends. The body will lie-in-state today after noon at Taylor Funeral Home.Funeral service is Tuesday at noon in the chapel with Brother John R. Taylor Sr. as the eulogist.Burial in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
