Larry Daffron

ROSSVILLE Lawrence "Larry" Patrick Daffron, 93, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013, at Parkside Nursing Home in Rossville.He was born Oct. 27, 1919, in Guild, Tenn.He was a graduate of Kirkman High School, Chattanooga.He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific.He was a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Oglethorpe, where he was known for his friendliness to greet and serve anyone. This is what many people will remember about him... how he served others with time and money.He lived in Chattanooga, for awhile, then Rossville and Fort Oglethorpe.As a young man he worked for Western Union, delivering telegrams. He also worked at the Davenport Hosiery Mill, and retired from National Life Insurance Co.His interests were CB radio operator, where he was known as "Kilroy". He loved to work on anything electronic. He also loved working on and making sure his lawn was one of the best around.He was preceded in death by his father, Patrick Harry Daffron; mother, Delilah Ethel Spears; wife, Willa Dean Cauthen; and his second wife, Beverly Ann Rogers; sister, Velma Lee McJunkin; and brother, William McKinley Daffron.He is succeeded by his three children, James Patrick Daffron (Yun Cha), of Crestview, Fla., Terrell Dean Daffron (Daphna), of East Ridge, and Donna Daffron Day, of Ringgold, Ga.; nine grandchildren, Teresa Wade, of Chattanooga, Rick Daffron of Rome, Ga., Ken Pierce of Vancouver, BC/CAN, David Daffron of Summerville, Ga., Shan Daffron, of East Ridge, Damon Daffron, of Seminole, Fla., Cindy Glasser, of Shepherdsville, Ky., Donna Chessher, of Crestview, Fla., and Terry Daffron, of Orlando, Fla.; 13 great-grandchildren, Josh Pierce, Christopher Daffron, AnDrue Potts, Lauren Daffron, Krista Glasser, Kara Glasser, Hannah Pierce, Mara Daffron, Jocelyn Santos, Luke Daffron, Reese Daffron, Quinn Daffron and Griffin Daffron. He lived to see five generations with his one great-great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Potts.Services for Mr. Daffron will be held at Wilson's Funeral Home, 555 W. Cloud Springs Road, Rossville, GA 30741 on Friday, April 19, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Ken Pierce and Rev. Jason Thomas officiating.The family will receive visitors on Thursday April 18, from 4 until 8 p.m. His body will be laid to rest at Chattanooga National Cemetery in Chattanooga.Pallbearers: Rick Daffron, David Daffron, Shan Daffron, Terry Daffron, Christopher Daffron and AnDrue Potts.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.Online guestbook available at www.wilsonfuneralhome.com.Arrangements are by W.L.
