WHITWELL James Hoyte "Tag" Pickett, 78, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013 at home surrounded by family. Mr. Pickett attended Mineral Springs Church of God and was retired from TVA. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.He was preceded in death by parents, Ben and Gladys Pickett; son, Benny Pickett; grandson, Dustin Shane Anderson; brother, J.B. Pickett; sister, Ruth Ann Pickett.Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Ruth Angeline Pickett; five children, Sherry (Stanley) King, Wilma (Mike) Minter, of Jasper, Jeff Pickett, of Whitwell, Mary Sharp, James E. Pickett, of Dunlap; six stepchildren; four sisters, Wanda Brenneman, of Jasper, Arlene Bakutas, of Columbia, S.C., Daisy Crum, of Toledo, Oh., Lois Young, of Kentucky; brothers, John Pickett, of Whitwell, Starlin Pickett, of Red Bank, Wayne Pickett, of Jasper; six grandchildren, Lee Nelson, Rodney Anderson, Josh Pickett, Chris Pickett, Lily Madeline Pickett, and Kevin Pickett; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Josh; several step-grandchildren.Family will receive friends 2-9 p.m. today.Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James "Rab" Ramsey and the Rev. Doug Ramsey officiating.
