James Link

Bob LinkJames Robert Link, 82, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., formerly of Chattanooga, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, in Alvin C. York VA Medical Center.Mr. Link was born July 12, 1931 in Ewing, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle and Jesse Link; sister, Alice Mason; brothers, Jack Link, Don Link, Gene Link and Bill Link; and two granddaughters, Alicia and Laura Jo. Bob grew up in Southern Illinois and moved to Texarkana, Texas with his family in 1963. He worked as an architect for Moore & Thomas and other firms in Texas and Tennessee. He retired in Chattanooga, and moved from there to live near his daughter in Murfreesboro.He served in the United States Navy from 1951-1954 during the Korean War and is grateful to his country for the opportunity to serve. He has been served well in return by the Veterans Administration and received excellent health care at Alvin C. York VA Medical Center and Clinic in Murfreesboro and VA Nashville Hospital and Clinic.Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Jo Plumlee Link; son, James Robert (Bonnie) Link Jr.; daughter, Martie Link (Tom) Opial; grandsons, Jordan Link, Brandon Link, Dalton Opial and Marshall Opial; and granddaughters, Lindsey Link, Olivia (Mark) Kimball, Audrey Link and Valerie Link.Mr. Link will have a family service in Southern Illinois and asks that memorials in his memory be made to his nephews church, Luthers Chapel United Methodist Church, 650 Luther Chapel Road, Cypress, IL 62923.
