Andy Anderson

Homer David "Andy" Anderson, of Soddy Daisy, finished his brave and lengthy battle with Parkinson s disease on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013.Andy served our country with honor during World War II and the Korean War and retired from the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was a classic example of "the greatest generation". He worked with the Chattanooga Post office and retired from the Engineering Department with the City of Chattanooga. Andy was an avid bowler in the Chattanooga leagues. He loved to fly and was a certified Pilot. Andy was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He will be missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Homer D. Anderson, Sr. and mother, Cecilia Anderson.Andy is survived by his wife, Verna; son, David (Lynn) Anderson, of Maryland; daughters, Christine Anderson, Elizabeth Moore, Sue and Donna; step-daughters, Donna (Hobert) Sweatman of North Carolina and Debra (Craig) Rogers, of Hixson, Diana (Ron) McCahill, of Hixson and Delores (Quintin) Thompson, of Alabama; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. today at the North Chapel.Services for Andy will follow at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Clair Sauer officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family has asked in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Andys name to Grace United Methodist Church,9833 Hixson Pike, Soddy Daisy, TN 37379 or Hospice of Chattanooga at P. O. Box 19269, Chattanooga, TN 37416. The family would like to thank Larry and Buddy with Hospice of Chattanooga for their loving care of Andy during his illness.Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
