Martha Richardson

Martha Jane Travis Richardson, 77, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday morning, Nov. 29, 2013 from her home surrounded by her loving family. Martha was born on July 11, 1936 a daughter of the later Claude and Lennie Patton Travis. She was also a lifelong member of the New Bethel United Methodist Church in Dayton. Martha was retired from Rhea Medical Center with over thirty years of service. After retiring she worked as a caregiver to many in her community. In addition to her parents Martha is preceded in death by her husband Max Richardson; two sons Jimmy Max Richardson and Tracy Richardson; two infant daughters and one brother Fenton Travis. Martha leaves behind to cherish her memory one daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Michael Gentry; three grandchildren Ryan (Amanda) Gentry, of Soddy Daisy, Tenn., Ashley Gentry, of Dayton and Lora (Michael) Hailey, of Hixson, Tenn.; two great grandchildren Ben and Alex Gentry, both of Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; two sisters Alice Travis, of Dayton and Betty(Bill) Bradford, of Graysville; two brothers Claude "Rabbit" (Opal) Travis and Tom Travis, of Dayton; one sister-in-law Jessie Travis and numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends. A celebration of her life is planned for Monday night, Dec. 2, at 6 p.m. at the New Bethel United Methodist Church in Dayton, TN. The family will receive friends at the church from 4 p.m. until the 6 p.m. service time. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the New Bethel United Methodist Church in Marthas memory.
