Myrtle Oxford

Myrtle C. Oxford, 87, passed away on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013. She was born to the late Walter and Mattie Rogers Clough in Harriman, Tenn., before moving to the North Georgia Area. She was a member of Gospel Tabernacle Church of God, Chickamauga and was employed at West Side Elementary for several years. Myrtle was a loving mother and sister who will be missed greatly. Myrtle was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Oxford Sr.; sons, Woody Eugene Hall and Alfred Oxford; and grandson, Donald Hall. She is survived by her children, Alice J. Williams, of Chickamauga, Roy Oxford Jr., of Chickamauga and Stanley Oxford, of Rocky Face; sister, Loretta Dickert, of Rossville; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Gardens, South. The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. today and prior to the service on Wednesday. Arrangements by W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe.
