Paul Allen

Paul Willard Allen, 79, a resident of Chattanooga for over 40 years, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013 with his family by his side. Paul served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars, retiring at the rank of Captain. He received numerous medals including the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Korean Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal and Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. He served on the military detail for President Dwight Eisenhower at Camp David. He was a member of the Harrison Lodge, the Alhambra Shrine and was a Scottish Rite 32nd-degree Mason. He was of the Church of Christ faith. He was preceeded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Marie Allen; parents, John D. and Mary M. Allen; sister, Marion Gore. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Paul "PJ" (Amy) Allen Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Paula (Nelson) Holmberg; grandchildren, Rebecca Allen, Hannah, Laurelie and Nelson Holmberg IV and Katie Wood; one brother, Clyde L Allen; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home or you may visit our guestbook at www.turnerfamilyfuneralhome.com The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday in the Highwayy 58 chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Minister Edwin Prescott officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Toys for Tots.
