Paul Johnson

Paul Ray Johnson, 73, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family. A lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and North Georgia areas, he was a son of the late John Henry and Cora Bell Johnson. Mr. Johnson retired from the Hamilton County School system. He loved to travel and spend time with his wife and family. He also was an avid fisherman. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers, Robert, Ernest, and James Johnson, as well as a sister, Hazel Wright. Survivors include his loving wife, Gale Johnson; sons, Matthew Ray (Pam) Johnson and Anthony Paul (Traci) Johnson; daughter, Angela Paulette Johnson; brother, Bill Johnson; sisters, Sandra Horton, Mary Shipley, Betty Johnson, and Glenda Evett; grandchildren, Trevor (Amber) Young, Leanna, Lindsey, and Isaic Johnson, Daci Fields; great-grandchild, Skylee Young; several nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Kimberly Ivens. A funeral service to commemorate his life will be held 2 p.m. today, Dec. 17, at Joyful Sound Church of God at 4th Avenue. The Reverend James Barker will officiate the service. Burial will follow the service at Lee Cemetery, McDonald, Tenn. Jim Taylor, Bob Morton, Hugh Dobbs, Matthew Carden, Ralph Compton, T.J. Tallent, Andrew Sylar, Robert Barnes and Roger Medley will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends for visitation today, two hours prior to the service at the church.
