Mary Shipley

Mary Alice Shipley, 90, passed away Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, with her loving family by her side. Mary was born on June 28, 1923 and was a Chattanooga resident. She was retired from Desoto Inc., was a member of Local teamsters union 515 and was a member of Tyner/Heritage Baptist Church for 26 years. Mary was the daughter of the late Jeff and Rosie Matthews, of Dayton, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Holiday Shipley; two daughters, Rosella Lyons and Ann Wortman; two grandbabies, Pamela June Shipley and Christopher Haynes; brothers, Warner and King Mattthews; sisters, Lois and Esther Hall and Opal Doss. Left to cherish her memories are her son, Freddie Shipley; stepson, H.D. Shipley; three daughters, Christine "Cheeco" Haynes, Billie Burnette, Maggie Gable and step-daughter, Ellen Shipley; 19 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mike Hearrell officiating. Burial will follow in Tyner Cemetery.
