Jerry Rice

TEN MILE Jerry Edward Rice, 70, passed away on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013.He was a member of Peakland Baptist Church, Ten Mille, where he served as a deacon for many years. Retired from TVA, and a former employee with the Meigs County Sheriff Department, also he was the owner and operator of Jerrys small engine repair shop. He was an avid fisherman and loved to watch his children and grandchildren play sports. Preceded in death by his father, George Edward Rice; mother and step-father, Opal Pauline Butler Bowman; and La Fawn Bowman; grandmother, Grace Reed Butler.Survivors include wife of 49 years, Barbara Jean Queen Rice, of Ten Mile; daughter and son-in-law, DeLinda and Michael Baker, of Powell; son, DeWayne Edward Rice, of Atlanta; grandchildren, Caysen, Camden, Cayden Baker, of Powell, sisters, Judy Bowman Cooley, of Athens, Janet McKenzie, of Decatur, Elizabeth Tate, of Sevierville, Debbie Bowman, of Chattanooga; brother, Larry Bowman, of Decatur; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended Rice family.The funeral service was at 2 p.m. Monday in Kykers Chapel with Rev. Keith Kile, Dr. Brian Cooper and Dr. Gene Rice officiating.Interment to follow in Sweetwater Memorial Park. Bob Rice, Rick Honeycutt, Eddie Davis, Ricky Honeycutt, Darrell Whitted and Michael Baker will serve as pallbearers.
