Gary Davis

ROSSVILLE Gary Quinton Davis, 61, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, in a local health care facility. He was a lifelong resident of North Georgia and was of the Baptist faith.Gary was my first date and kiss when we were teenagers. Even though we parted for a few years, we got back together, were married and remained together for 35 years. We had a beautiful son, Ben, who has given us a precious granddaughter, Addison, along with an awesome new daughter, Casey. We were into horses for a big part of our life. We met as trail guides; giving horseback rides through the battlefield. After Ben came along, we dedicated our lives to playing ball, all through Ben's senior year in high school, and met several life-long friends by doing this.He has fought a fierce battle over the past several years with his health. We never thought he would be with us this long, but he was such a fighter. He was dedicated to the boys he coached in baseball and football and kept up with many of them even after they grew up. We have seen some of them die young and it upset him more than anyone will ever know.He was an avid Georgia football fan and you never saw him without a Georgia hat and shirt. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends .... and never forgotten. There will never be another kind, loving father and husband like him.He was preceded in death by his parents, William Scott and Pauline Romans Davis; brother, Jerry Don Davis; and a sister, Jeanette Robinson.Survivors are his loving wife of 35 years, Debbie Davis; son, Ben (Casey) Davis, Ringgold; brothers, Jessie (Jerry Ann) Davis, James Davis, both of Rock Spring, Ga., and Scott (Rhonda) Sevierville, Tenn.; sisters, Eva Robinson, LaFayette, Ga., and Patricia (Earl) Allmon, Subligna; granddaughter, Addison Scott Davis, Ringgold; several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Brother Richard Harper officiating.
