Muriel Detty

ROSSVILLE Muriel E. Detty, 89, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at her residence.She was a native of Chicago, Ill., had lived in Hawaii for several years before moving to the Chattanooga and North Georgia area over 30 years ago. She was a member of Brainerd Hills Presbyterian Church and had volunteered her time for many years at the Childrens Hospital in Chattanooga as well as AAA Womens Service. Her passions in life were God, her church, her family, and volunteering her time to serve others.She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert A. Detty; and daughter, Karen Croxford.Survivors include her four children, James (Margaret) Detty, of Phoenix, Ariz., Christine Fehl, of Rossville, Mark (Jan) Detty, of Ringgold, Ga., and Allison (Joe) Daffron, of Fort Oglethorpe; brother, Wallace Nygren, of Portland, Ore.; 15 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.com.Funeral services will be held Friday at 12:30 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel with Pastor Gary Roop officiating.Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
