Lillie Jackson

Lillie "Denise" Jackson, a devoted mother, loving grandmother, and cherished friend, departed this life on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, surrounded by her family and friends at her residence.She was born Lillie Denise Martin on Jan. 28, 1955, in Detroit, Mich., to Eloise Fletcher and Joseph Gobott. She moved to Chattanooga, at the age of 7 where she attended elementary, junior high and high school. She attended Howard High School until the 11th grade. She moved to Detroit, Mich., for her senior year and graduated from David-McKenzie High School in 1974. She remained in Detroit for 19 more years and worked for ADT Security Systems from 1978-1993. In 1983, she married Bernard Jackson and from the union Timarra Denise Jackson was born in 1984. She moved back to Chattanooga, in 1993 where she lived out the remainder of her life. Denise worked for the Electric Power Board for 19 years.She was preceded in death by her mother, Eloise Fletcher; and her father, Joseph Gobott. Denise is survived by her husband, Bernard Jackson; her only daughter, Timarra Jackson; her only brother, Samuel (Kai) Heath; two grandsons, Timanne Jackson and Jimanne Jackson-Cox; one granddaughter, TiArieal Jackson-Cox; two nephews, Emmanuel Heath and Elijah Heath; one niece, Samantha Heath; a beloved friend, Leslie O'Neal; a host of cousins; other relatives and close friends.The body will lie-in-state at 11 a.m. on Saturday with the funeral to follow at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Kenneth Sales as the eulogist.
