BRIDGEPORT, Ala. Bobby Joe Rogers, 78, lifelong resident of Bridgeport, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Grandview Medical Center.He was of the Baptist faith. Bobby was an avid fisherman and golfer, a member of Bass Anglers Sportsmans Society Weekend Series and North Jackson Bass club. He was a retired agent of CSX Transportation.He was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Bernice Rogers, of Bridgeport.Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Marvetta Dyer Rogers, of Bridgeport; one son, Bobby Dale Rogers, of Bridgeport; one daughter, Robyn Thomas, of Arlington, Texas; five grandchildren, Stephen Thomas, Euless, Texas, Allen Thomas, Delray Beach, Fla., Shanna Thomas, Asheville, N.C., Bobby Joe Rogers II "B.J.", South Pittsburg, Tenn., Andrew Rogers, Jasper, Tenn; two brothers, James L. Rogers, Atlanta, Tommy Rogers, Bridgeport; two sisters, Lois Rogers, Signal Mountain, and Linda Gibbs, Spring City, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. CSTon Friday, Jan. 11, at Rogers Funeral Home in South Pittsburg.The family will receive friends for visitation from 4-9 p.m. CST today at the funeral home.Condolences may be sent by visiting www.rogersfuneralhome.com.
