Julia Hookey

SOUTH PITTSBURG, Tenn. Julia Gilliam Hookey, 73, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, in a local hospital.The daughter of the late Garrett Clinton and Jeanette Collins Gilliam, she was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in South Pittsburg. She worked for many years at South Pittsburg Hospital and then Grandview Medical Center in the Billing and Medical Records departments. She enjoyed quilting, flower and vegetable gardening and loved to travel. She was also a member of the Golden Friends social group.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerre Hookey; and brother, Clinton Gilliam.She is survived by her daughter, Dianne (Jackie) Quick, of Fayetteville, Tenn.; son, Robert (Barbara Jordan) Hookey, of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Brad (Amanda) Quick, of Fayetteville, Kymberly (Nathan) Cooper of Arab, Ala., Amber Madewell, of Tony, Ala., Ashley Helton, of Fayetteville, Joseph (Jessica) Hookey, of Chattanooga, Lindsey Jordan, of Knoxville and Taylor Jordan, of Chattanooga; great-grandchildren, Austin, Kelsea, Layna, Max, Katie Beth, Nora Rose, Corbin and Garrett; sister, Joyce (Jim) Haskew, of South Pittsburg; brother, Clyde (Earline) Gilliam, of Chattanooga; several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 2 p.m. CST on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, with Rev. Joe Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Cumberland View Cemetery in Kimball.The family will receive friends for visitation from 4-8 p.m. today, Jan. 10, at the funeral home.Condolences may be sent by visiting www.rogersfuneralhome.com.
